D4.2.1 - Distributed Data Processing Concept Description of the deliverable content and purpose The purpose of this report is to describe the starting point and direction of the work being carried out in task 4.2. To this end, the report contains a structured description of the stateof-the-art in distributed data processing. Based on the requirements derived from WP1 defined scenario and use cases, a number of areas that are not adequately covered in the state-of-the-art are identified. These areas provide the focus for approaches developed within the e-SENSE project. The report moves on to describe an e-SENSE approach for each of the technical areas as well as initial results.
