This document summarises the relevant standardisation initiatives related to the e-SENSE project, which will leverage the integration of captured context information from Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) into B3G standards.

The European commission encourages the participation of IST projects in ICT standardisation activities, as the best way to harmonise and promote the competitiveness of European industry, and the e-SENSE consortium agrees that standardisation is one of the key factors in the success of any new technology.

This deliverable identifies the most relevant standards, and sets the strategy to be adopted by e-SENSE in each case, as based on the technical research effort. This strategy basically consists of implementation optimisation of existing standards and the suggestion of modifications on current standards, or potentially the promotion of new standards to meet the targets defined by the technical effort.

Interfaces or methodologies proven as more appropriate for context application as a result of technical research carried out in e-SENSE, may be suited for direct interaction with standardisation bodies, but may as well be more suited for public dissemination, such as creating awareness on e-SENSE results among the related industry, fostering the public agreement on them and hence becoming a de-facto standard.

In order to set the standardisation strategy of the e-SENSE project, an analysis of the technical WP outputs has been carried out.
